Day after day, it’s another “episode” of unhappy consumers, be it with the price or quality of the food. This time, the unjustified amount of seafood in the soup became the debate.
The anonymous customer shared her experience in the Facebook group 吃的平台, saying that she ordered a medium-sized bowl of Seafood Soup for RM27 at a stall in Taman Pelangi, Johor. The customer, however, was not happy about the portion of seafood in the soup.
She ladled the ingredients out, and we could see some pieces of fish, squid, and a prawn, as well as some vegetables. The customer also continuously stirred the soup to make sure netizens got to see just how little the portion of seafood was in the soup.
The soup came in a medium-sized bowl but the ingredients, however, could fit in a much smaller bowl as shown in the picture.
The price baffled the customer, who even asked the staff if “it was for real”, given the price she had to pay for the seafood soup. The staff of the stall then confirmed with the customer that RM27 was indeed the price for a medium-sized seafood soup.
“This was supposed to be a medium-sized soup. 1 prawn for 2 people. How do we even share?” the customer asked.
“You can get more at Mamak restaurants!”
Netizens, on the other hand, were also shocked to see the portion of the seafood soup and given the RM27 pricing, many of them didn’t think it was worth the money.
“At Mamak restaurants, you can get more ingredients in Tom Yum Gong.”
“This is too absurd. I can get RM10 here for a Tom Yam seafood, with 3 prawns and 5 slices of squids.”
“Are these leftovers?”
Prices of goods are on the hike, but would you pay RM27 for this portion of seafood soup?
