Thanks to a few black sheep with horrendous behaviours, individuals with honorary titles such as ‘Datuk Seri’ have been getting a bad name, and the recent case is not helping the stereotype one bit!

According to NST, the individual who allegedly beat up three Rela members has been identified as Datuk Seri Liow Soon Hee. This name has garnered much unwanted attention on social media as netizens just couldn’t believe that a 29-year-old man is able to bear such a prestigious title.

After hiding for two days, Liow finally showed up in a luxurious Bentley to surrender to the authorities recently.

Surprisingly, he made headlines once again when he was tested positive for drugs. The police believe that he must have taken some drugs before turning himself in. What’s wrong with him?

Since then, he has became the most talked about subject and soon, media outlets started looking into his background and a lot of juicy information has been discovered.

Apparently he was linked to at least 10 criminal cases since 2009 such as:

  • Drug abuse
  • Assaulting people with dangerous weapons
  • Robbery

For some unknown reason, he was never prosecuted in court before. In fact, he was even conferred the Datukship sometime between 2012 and 2015, according to Pocket Times.

That’s not all, because two local Chinese dailies have reported that Datuk Seri Liow is allegedly a member of a triad in Taiwan, called ‘内八堂’. He was also spotted attending an event in Taiwan this year.

Remember the self-proclaimed ‘future world’s richest man’, Zhang Jian?

In case you’ve forgotten, Zhang Jian is a Chinese national who was arrested and escorted back to China in June to face the music.

He was responsible for scamming RM356 million out of thousands of people through various schemes, and Liow was reportedly his right-hand man.

Regarding the accusations of him possessing firearm, the police have yet to find any solid evidence but it has been confirmed by deputy inspector-general of police, Tan Sri Noor Rashid that Liow does have the permit to carry firearm.

There are so many questions but only so few answers for now. Netizens still aren’t able to get their heads around the fact that he was awarded a Datukship despite his notorious background.

The police and MACC will be using the Anti-money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (AMLA) and Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) to probe the case.

We’re just as curious as you about the outcome of this entire case, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
