DBKL officers are expected to undergo courses and training starting next year to prevent another Abang Belon incident.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif, said this course and training emphasises four phases, with the first phase involving regimental training such as foot marching, martial arts, and physical training, which lasts for a month.

The second phase involved on-the-job training at the Aidilfitri bazaar in Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman, which will also last for 1 month.

The third phase will see the officers attending legal classes for 45 days before moving on to the fourth phase, which consists of marching drills and preparations for the end of the training course, which will last for three weeks.

All trainees and officers in the organisation are expected to participate

Maimunah said that the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan), the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) were also asked to assist DBKL in providing courses for them. She said that after completing this basic course, trainees will indirectly be able to increase their knowledge and self-confidence to provide the best service to city residents.

“The appearance and skills demonstrated by officers and members who are knowledgeable and highly confident can provide positive responses and views among city residents to enhance the image of DBKL.”

“In other words, city residents will have more trust and respect for officers and enforcement personnel in the field,” Maimunah said at a press conference today (June 12).

She added that the DBKL Enforcement Department is a department that is always looked up to and used as a reference by city residents and other local authorities. With that in mind, she hopes that DBKL will be able to continue its legacy and the good image that it has built.

What do you think of the training for the officers?
