One of our worst imaginary nightmares is being stuck in the middle of nowhere with our phones dead in the water, regardless of low battery or laggy to the max. Though that’s easily avoidable (thanks, power banks), there are still many everyday instances where we can still kantoi from our phone malfunctioning or deathly low on batts – and it’s sooo stressful when it happens!

So we asked a few Malaysians to share what it’s like losing access to their phones in times of urgent need, and we got so stressed even just hearing about it!

1. Not being able to send a SUPER URGENT message on my phone

“Even though we can now work on-the-go with smartphones, it only means we have less excuses for not sending a super important e-mail or message on time. ?”

– Zul, 27

2. Can’t listen to music or watch Netflix when commuting

YesVoices LRT

“I always lupa to charge my phone, which is a bad habit ‘cos I won’t be able to use TikTok, Spotify or Netflix, making my LRT rides to work soooooo much longer! Maybe I should start investing in a power bank… ?”

– Tasha, 21

3. Can’t order e-hailing, then end up late for appointments!

YesVoices Late

“I go out and meet clients A LOT for work, so I naturally use e-hailing lah, more convenient. But there are times when my phone suddenly can’t connect to the Internet while booking, then I end up late for the meeting with my client – malu eh!

– Luke, 32

4. Unable to QR pay for meal at warung

YesVoices QR Pay

“I admit QR payments are super convenient (I even rarely carry cash now!), but it’s mafan when my phone suddenly can’t connect to the Internet and I’m unable to pay the mak cik for my lunch. Maybe I reached my data cap so my Internet speed slowed down A LOT gua, but still, I should have enough for bare minimum use lah.”

– Siew Ling, 25

5. Paid for 5G, but can’t even stream an online meeting!

YesVoices 5G

“I needed to have a last-minute video meeting with my boss last week, but I was outstation for work. Since I just switched to a 5G mobile plan, I thought I could take my meeting outside, but the video call wasn’t even loading properly! Why do I even pay for 5G when my speed is being capped? ?”

– Valerie, 30

It’s the darndest thing – even though we pay our phone bills on time or always bring our power banks, we’ll still never know when our days will be hindered by issues we have no control over like FUP limit (data and speed limit), ‘surprise’ hidden costs, ever-increasing phone bills, just to name a few. We thought we were imagining things but it looks like we aren’t the only ones with these issues!

Say ‘Yes’ to trustworthy telcos!

Do any of these issues sound familiar to you? Who knew so many of us have the same problems ah! Which is why it’s time for us to voice out our concerns louder so that everyone gets the same quality products and services. Thankfully, there’s one telco in the country that wants to raise awareness on this issue too.

Yes 5G’s Malaysian Voices is a campaign that seeks to raise awareness of the public’s frustrations with overpriced 5G plans, misleading data practices, and limited data/speed offered by other telcos.

With the Malaysian Voices campaign, Yes 5G provided a platform to educate and inform Malaysians on ethical telco practices and the importance of not settling for less when it comes to expensive telco bills, capped data and speed, and the like.

As home to Malaysia’s fastest, most affordable 5G plan, Yes 5G encourages Malaysians to “UNCAP YOURSELF” by signing up for the most reasonably-priced, value-for-money mobile plans with NO hidden charges and full transparency (which they happen to offer!). That way, Malaysians can finally unlock true data freedom with Yes 5G to enjoy uncapped 5G data and speed 24/7 with no complicated restrictions.

Sounds too good to be true? Here’s what Malaysians have to say about Yes 5G!
