Ever since most industries have been allowed to re-open, parents find it difficult to care for their children as both the parents are working. Some companies even asked their employees to take unpaid leave to take care of their children which is illegal.

To solve this issue, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced in his press conference that all kindergartens, nurseries and daycares will be allowed to operate henceforth.

He added that previously only 3,000 of these establishments were allowed to operate but henceforth, the remaining 6,696 nurseries are allowed to operate. Since there seems to be a lot of divisions of the establishments such as kindergartens, nurseries and daycares, the Education Ministry will release an SOP for all these places.

Previously, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) released a new SOP detailing the opening of daycare and childcare centres. The SOP stated that children of frontliners have a risk of infection and the “safest place for them is their homes, and this caused quite a huge backlash from Malaysians. As of now, it’s still unsure if there will be a change in those SOPs.

What do you think of the re-opening of these establishments? Is it time we educate our children to live in the new normal now? Let us know in the comments section!
