As we enter the Conditional Movement Control Order, several relaxations have been announced to make the lives of Malaysians easier.

One of it was the re-opening of shopping malls and most other businesses. It’s been a built-in reaction nowadays for most of us to wear our masks if we have to leave the house. We’ve even seen viral videos on the internet of people getting scolded for their refusal to wear a mask when they’re out.

Today, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, was asked in his press conference if shopkeepers have the right to refuse customers who chose to not wear a mask. He answered that as per the original SOP, wearing a mask is still NOT a must but it is encouraged to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Instead, maybe shopkeepers can sell masks at the front of their shop to encourage customers to buy these masks for their own safety.”
