A day before and even on the day the Movement Control Order was enforced, we saw thousands of Malaysians starting to balik kampung despite the orders to stay home. Infectious diseases expert Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman even spoke up on this in an article on Malaysiakini. She said that people should not balik kampung and should stay where they are. However, Defense Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin. Yaakob has now said in a press conference that those who went back to their hometowns during the MCO should remain there and not return for now.

“It’s a trend now where those who went back to their hometowns have began to show signs that they want to return to their offices or houses in Kuala Lumpur or any other major cities.”

He added that the police will be doing roadblocks and will instruct anyone who tries to leave their hometown to return back. The police have done 1,029 roadblocks, 163,687 vehicle checks, 2,481 sudden inspections and 1,719 inspections are still being done.

For those who went back to their hometown, obey these orders and stay there for now! The rest of us, y’all know what to do, STAY HOME!
