With new Covid-19 cases and variants popping up like mushrooms, it’s only fair that we avoid crowds and still adhere to the SOPs while trying to get our lives as closely back to normal as possible.

But, what do you do when your mode of transportation to work everyday becomes a gathering point for a sea of people?

Images of an MRT station has left people baffled as a massive crowd can be seen waiting for their train. It turns out that the crowd had formed as a Rapid KL train was having technical difficulties, causing delays and a back up of passengers.

In the pictures shared online, there were so many people that the queue for the train started all the way at the bottom of the staircase of the station.

Shouldn’t there be auxiliary police officers around the manage the crowd?

Rapid KL has since shared a statement and apology over the issue on their Facebook page and updated that the issue has been resolved.

“Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd as the operator of the Kajang Line MRT service, would like to apologise for the inconvenience experienced by users due to the delay in the travel schedule because of technical problems that occurred at the Phileo Damansara MRT Station.”

“This is due to one of the trains, No. 22, experiencing technical problems when approaching the station,” they wrote.

While we understand that technical difficulties cannot be avoided, crowds like this should. Additional measures should have been taken in order to ensure the waiting passengers physically distance themselves from each other.

This incident may have caused more than just inconveniences, for such a crowd could easily cause a spread of the Covid-19 virus.

We genuinely hope that everyone stays safe and adhere to the SOPs even though we are no longer in the lockdowns.
