The process of replacing one’s identification card (IC) can be taxing and arduous. But luckily for us, you can now apply to replace your IC without needing any Internet connection to apply for it online.

In a post shared to the Malaysian National Registration Department‘s (JPN) official Facebook page, the governmental division revealed that Malaysians can now request to replace their MyKad using a hotline number.

Referred to formally as MyPhone-In, all Malaysians will need to do is apply for their MyKad through the hotline, provide their details, and collect it from any Pejabat Percetakan Teragih (DPP) near them.

However, there are multiple requirements in place before one can make a request using this hotline.

Firstly, only Malaysian citizens are allowed to use this method to replace their ICs. Secondly, the request is only to be done to replace a regular IC or if the chip or card itself is damaged in any way.

Arguably the most crucial aspect, applications and collections of this replacement can only be done by the owner of the specific IC themselves, and not on behalf of other people. For those who are below 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must accompany you to collect the IC once it is complete.

No alteration of information will be allowed as it pertains to one’s address, religion, name or photo through this application. Furthermore, those who have lost their previous IC will be required to pay the processing fee according to the number of times it has been lost.

According to the official JPN website, the processing fee for someone who lost their IC once will be RM100, RM 300 for someone who lost their IC twice, and RM1,000 if you have lost your IC three times or more. This payment is to be made when it is time to collect the new IC.

However, all applicants will be required to pay an RM10 application fee when collecting the new IC. This payment will also be made at the time of collecting the IC. The new IC will be ready for collection at any Pejabat Percetakan Teragih (DPP) within 30 minutes after completing the application.
