Okay, if our house is as luxurious as this, we definitely won’t mind if the MCO will be extended until the end of the year 😛
It’s hard to believe that the movie ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ debuted in cinemas some 2 years ago. Wah, really? Feels like we just watched the movie in cinema yesterday weh!
A lot of things had happened and the world practically changed due to Covid-19 since the movie came out. Heck, we can’t even go the cinemas anymore. However, the movie Crazy Rich Asians is still bringing a lot of surprises to us; its filming location for example.
We all know that it was shot in our country and Singapore, but did you know that the Singaporean home of wealthy matriarch Eleanor Young in the movie was actually a house in Country Heights, Damansara?
It’s no ordinary house too, as it’s got to be one of the most luxurious homes we’ve ever seen in our shores! I mean, just take a look below:
According to dezeen, the architect of this luxurious home is Stephanie Maignan of Toronto-based B+H Architects and it was completed in 2014.
Owned by Be-Landa, a Dutch family living in Damansara for several years now, the house attracted Hollywood producers for the movie due to the building’s impressive tropical setting and open-plan layout, which faces an infinity pool.
Stephanie further elaborated that,
“Sometimes when doing movies they look for a room without walls, that’s ideal for filming as well. Also I think the jungle setting, it’s quite close to the city but it doesn’t feel like it.”
So the house used in Crazy Rich Asians was actually owned by crazy rich Dutch. Nevertheless, it’s still an incredible masterpiece of minimal yet luxurious architecture that is an envy of many.
One thing’s for sure though. We wouldn’t mind being stuck in this home during this MCO period.
