There will also be virtual checkpoints and varying challenges that will test your skills such as speed, knowledge of the city, dexterity and problem-solving.
Here are all the challenges you can expect come race day:
- Scan Challenge.
- Discovery Challenge.
- Time Trial Challenge.
To complete these challenges, participants will have to strategise and plan their own routes, choosing the checkpoints that will maximise their points.

Speaking of points, participants can track their progress on the live leaderboards hosted on the District Race app, creating a sense of friendly competition and a desire to push for that last checkpoint!
Each checkpoint will give you a score ranging from 100 to 400 points, while challenge scores begin at 500 points.

The District Race app is now available for download via the App Store and Google Play. Launched in Singapore in 2018, District is a ground-breaking technology platform that encourages people to lead active, healthy lifestyles through the app.
As a way to warm-up for race day, use the app to browse through District Grids that are already set up in major cities across Malaysia for FREE which includes:
- Kuala Lumpur.
- Penang.
- Malacca.
- Johor Bahru.
There are over 25 grids live across these cities, each offering different challenges that highlight local landmarks, as well as the culture and heritage of each district.

The District base is the heart of the District Race, bringing together District explorers before they journey onto the Grid and will be located at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
There are two categories on offer, which are Discovery and Open.

- Smaller ‘Grid’ with over 50 checkpoints.
- A shorter one-hour mission.
- Challenges located around the base location!

A classic category created for those wanting to explore new places around the city, it will be featuring:
- A bigger ‘Grid’ with Over 100 checkpoints!
- Missions that need to be completed in 2 hours.
- More challenges to be completed.
There are no set routes for each category and it is up to the participants to decide which checkpoints and challenges they are to complete!
