Cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri is no stranger for controversy. From his provocative music videos, to the way he advertises the products of his brand, he is not shy of the spotlight.
Recently, the release of his latest music video ‘Baby Sayang’ drew criticism from many even though Aliff had said that he had already spent thousands of ringgit to fulfil his dream of singing.
In a press conference session with the media at a restaurant on Thursday (August 18) evening, Aliff said, “I made the Baby Sayang song, it wasn’t even profitable, I spent almost RM70,000 on this song. When it comes to profit and direct income, I am never surprised.”
“I made this song not to become a singer but only because of my interest and hobby.”
He also believes that people should appreciate him more before he leaves this world one day. “I’m sad that the whole of Malaysia won’t accept my talents and keep criticising me. Do I have to be dead for everyone to start appreciating me?” he asked.
Aliff also added that since he has already released almost 10 songs to the public, it should have proved to everyone that he does indeed have talent.
“Just try for once to appreciate my talent, as I make songs for the purpose of entertaining the public,” he said.
“Malaysians are actually picky about who they like, isn’t it, they accept foreign artists even if their singing is sometimes not that good.”
“When this happens to me, I feel strange. I also see some artists in Malaysia whose actions are sometimes far worse, such as showing their stomachs and holding hands, but yet no one criticises them,” he added.
