As we’re nearing the next General Election (GE), the heat is on, and every organisation is participating in events to convince the rakyat why they should win the next GE.

As for MUDA, they did the same recently in Johor but the event did not proceed as smoothly as they wanted it to be as the event was halted when a group of hecklers were present and created havoc at the scene.

The incident has gone viral on social media over the weekend and it has gained the attention of many, including the chief of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Johor, Hasni Mohammad.

HASNI MOHAMMAD re

Despite being a political figure from a different party, the chief of BN in Johor is not a fan of what happened during the MUDA event, and he had something to say about it.

“Johor is not a circus”

On his Twitter account last night (October 23), Hasni responded to the incident and made it clear that he wanted the democratic event to be held in a civilised manner, and not with the presence of political thuggery as seen during the incident.

“I believe the rakyat expect the process of democracy to be carried on in a matured way. Such a political culture should not be practised in the upcoming GE.”

Hasni also urged ALL political parties to be wise when going on campaigns to gain the votes of the rakyat.

“Do not turn Johor into a circus. We should be better than this,” Hasni captioned at the end of his tweet.

The havoc during the MUDA event also led to the damage of the vehicle of one of the co-founders of MUDA, Lim Wei Jiet.

Competitions are expected especially during the GE season, but that does not mean competition has to be unhealthy, and it certainly does not mean hostility is the way to demonstrate your power.

We hope that ALL parties can be mature and civilised whilst going on campaigns and “preaching” about why the rakyat should vote for them in the coming elections.
