It’s always great to see our politicians doing their best to cut costs, especially while they’re on official business!
According to the New Straits Times, DPM Wan Azizah arrived in Mongolia yesterday (3rd July) to lead the Malaysian delegation at the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) on her first official abroad visit as the Deputy Prime Minister.

Although many initially thought she would have used the government jet, she reportedly opted to fly commercially and was even willing to transit for about six hours at the Narita International Airport in Japan before heading to Mongolia.
On top of that, she also wanted to be put up in a normal hotel room at the Shangri-La Hotel, as she did not want excessive VVIP treatment during her visit.
Speaking at a press conference, Malaysian ambassador to China/Mongolia Datuk Zainuddin Yahya said, “She made the decision herself as to her it is more economical and also part of prudence in government’s spending.”

The Deputy Prime Minister is reportedly only involved in today’s (4th July) AMCDRR session and is scheduled to fly back to Malaysia on Thursday morning (5th July).
