As we go about our lives, there are many out there who are struggling under the radar, out of our sight.

Thankfully, with people like Uncle Kentang, the hardships of these underprivileged folks are brought to light where help is obtainable.

Kuan Chee Heng, who is known as Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to showcase an elderly, wheelchair-bound woman who lives alone in a tiny, store-like room, with no way to help herself.

He wrote,

“Old, wheelchair-bound and left alone to die by herself.”

Uncle Kentang shared the horrific truth of this poor, elderly woman’s reality.

“Alone, left in a squalid store, I guessed her aged to be around 80-plus. She does not even have pants to wear. She wrapped herself in a trash bag. A plastic trash bag. She sleeps in a small prison-like room. No light as the only light failed to work. She asked us for candles and a lighter but I refused because she might burn herself to death,” he said.

“She was literally left to rot and die there. Please NGOs, I need you to share her story so it can help the authorities to rescue her from dying a horrible and unwanted death.”

The woman, who is of Hokkien descent, was apparently born in Penang and speaks relatively good English and Mandarin. She manages to pay her rent through the RM300 contribution she receives every month from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

“She says she still pays her rent. RM300 from JKM every month, which she uses to pay her rent. A kind heart will bring her meals each day between 11.00am to 3.00pm. It means she only has a meal a day. Rubbish and faeces can be found almost everywhere,” he added. He recalled how good she felt to get some fresh air after a long time in her little room.

“As we got her out for some fresh air, she smiled. Unfortunately, the moon was absent in the sky. But, I guess the sun too was not there every day for her.”

Uncle Kentang is urging anyone who can help the woman to step forward and assist.

“If you can help her, please call me personally at +60122732148. She is very near us, but far away from humanity.”

Her living conditions are truly unacceptable, especially considering the fact that she cannot take care of herself as she is wheelchair-bound. In her old age, she deserves to smile like how she felt when the wind was in her face.

We genuinely hope that humanity wins in this case and that the woman gets the help she needs.
