Following nearly 2 years of no events, concerts or festivals, the tail end of 2022 has been filled with wonderful events and festivals that has had thousands of Malaysians flocking to attend.

One of these was Edelweiss’ first-ever Chalet Edelweiss Unwind which was an outdoor experience that allowed consumers to disconnect from their hectic city lives and discover nature alongside glamping and a series of exciting activities together with music performances.

The outdoor festival which took place from the 21st to 24th October, hosted a total of 3000 adventure-seekers to traverse the idyllic, sun-lit plains of the Resorts World Awana Driving Range, Genting Highlands.

Thrilling line-up of local, regional and international artists

We were invited to the very first day of the festivities on Friday (October 21) which was the day that American singer-songwriter Jeremy Zucker was headlining.

Best known for his songs “comethru”, “you were good to me”, and “all the kids are depressed”, Zucker’s performance tied in perfectly with the entire objective of the event, which was simply to unwind.

Although it was pouring down as he was performing, we’d argue that it made his performance even more fitting and amazing as we were surrounded by the elements.

Meanwhile, other performances on the night included Malaysian acts Silver Lim, Crinkle Cuts as well as Daaliah.

On Saturday, Chinese-American artist Karencici headlined the night’s performances whilst on Sunday, Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy capped the festivities off.

Specially curated cocktails and delightful bites

Aside from all the performances, attendees also had the opportunity to grab some bites from the snack bar which had a mixture of cuisines from Malaysian, to Western to even vegan choices!

For those that drink, they were also able to explore 2 specially curated Edelweiss cocktails, a specialty available for only 3 days at the Alps Bar.

Creating interactions between the crowd and nature with games

Attendees also got the chance to participate in games like “Giant Wall Ball Maze” and “Cornhole”, which is a popular game in which players throw bean bags into the hole of an angled board to win prizes.

Handicraft lovers, on the other hand, got the chance to personalise their very own steel mugs.

Nature first! Not all fun and games

Apart from the fun games, good food and drinks as well as the exciting live performances, attendees were also treated to a sustainability trail walk with a guide.

This was perfect for nature-lovers as it allowed attendees to explore the lush beauty of the montane timber
forest of the Awana BIO Park and stand next to some of the giants of the forest while enjoying the picturesque views of the Awana Golf Course.

We also got to learn more about forest conservation and also participate in transplanting native young timbers which are critical to maintaining a sustainable mountain timber forest.

This all went hand in hand with Chalet Edelweiss Unwind’s programme which ensured that there was minimal damage to the environment and surroundings.

Meanwhile, morning yoga sessions were also organised for attendees who stayed over to sink in and connect with nature even further.

We certainly had a blast! For those who attended, what did you think of the festivities?
