Kedah Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Sanusi Md Nor is back in Malaysia from his work trip in Japan and reaffirmed that both his wives had always been in Kedah during the flood.
During a visit to the temporary evacuation (PPS) in Pendang, Kedah yesterday (September 22), Sanusi not only denied the allegations that his wives tagged along for the Japan trip but also said that he would’ve not gone to Japan if he knew the flood was going to happen.
Japan or Kedah, floodwater wouldn’t recede
To him, he couldn’t have foreseen what fate had in store.
“I landed in Japan on the 2nd day of the flood in Kedah. I did my job, and Allah did his. How would I know that Allah was going to bring a flood to the people in Kedah?”
In his Facebook post, Sanusi shared the statement he made to the media and said he would have opted to stay in Kedah if he knew the flood was going to happen. Sanusi also said that his presence in the state wouldn’t have made any difference.
“Even if I was in Kedah, the floodwater wouldn’t recede. It would only recede if God allowed it.”
Sanusi also took the opportunity to comment on the defamation online which claimed he brought his wives along to Japan.
“If you’re unsure, check before you write. You’ll go to hell for lying, like what my kid said. I’m not playing politics. This is about nature and how we handle the flood. No one asked for the disaster to happen,” Sanusi explained.
In a report by Malaysia Gazette, as of 8 AM today (September 23), Kedah saw an increase in flood victims with over 8,000 people affected.
Menteri Besar’s office in Kedah said in a statement last week that Sanusi went to Kumamoto City in Japan to study the management of underground dam operations, and the work trip had been scheduled since April this year.
