Let’s face it, we’ve all lent money to a friend and never saw a penny back.

While some of us have decided to let it go, perhaps because the amount lent was small, others find it difficult to do that and are hoping to find a solution to get their money back.

The Emosi Twitter page recently shared the distress of a Malaysian who had lent their friend a whopping RM10,500 and have since not been able to get their friend to agree to returning the money to them, even with an installment plan. They have since wondered if they should consider legal action and taking their friend to court.

They wrote, “Back when I was not so smart, I allowed a friend to borrow RM10,500, not all at once. Now, it has become very difficult to ask for the money back.”

The friend allegedly constantly used ‘psychological problems’ as an excuse to avoid repaying the amount borrowed.

“When I WhatsApp them to ask for the money, they will confirm say they’re not feeling well.”

They also attempted to convince their friend to pay back the money in installments of RM300 a month, but that didn’t work out either.

Now, the Malaysian is hoping that legal action would do the trick as reaching out nicely isn’t getting them anywhere

They were also hoping to reach out to their friend’s mother for help in regards to this matter, but that would be a problem as well.

“If I WhatsApp their mother, I’m are afraid that their mother might fall sick and blame me. Even though, they are the one that’s being problematic.”

Not knowing what else to do, they’re wondering if they should just take their friend to court.

What would you do if you were in their shoes? Would you be willing to take your friend to court in order to get your money back?

Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
