Following the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani’s statement that the public must follow dress codes at police stations except in “life or death” emergencies, his predecessor, Tan Sri Musa Hassan reminded him that it is the duty of the police to receive reports regardless of the situation. Voicing his disagreement with Acryl Sani, Musa said no one would go to the police station unless they needed assistance.

As reported by FMT, the former IGP stressed that it does not matter how an individual was dressed when making a police report. Musa asserted,

“It is not only in cases of life and death, thus it does not matter how one should dress. It is the duty of the police to receive such reports in whatever situation,”

The whole debate emerged after a woman was allegedly barred from entering the Kajang police headquarters for wearing shorts. She was only given permission to enter the police station after her sister brought a pair of trousers for her to wear so that she can go and make a report about a car accident.

So, what do you guys think of the statement by Musa Hassan? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
