The authorities, especially the police force, are supposed to protect the citizens. So imagine the horror Malaysians have to go through when we hear stories like these!
Five years ago, former Deputy Superintendent Rohaizat Abd Ani aged 58, committed rape and sodomy on a 13 year-old girl.
The New Straits Times reported that yesterday (23rd March), Rohaizat lost his appeal case to dismiss the rape and sodomy charges made by the Kota Kinabalu sessions court.

Initially, he was supposed to be sentenced to 80 years in jail, but his sentence was reduced by half, making his current sentence 40 years in jail. On top of that, he has also been sentenced to be whipped 15 times.
According to his counsel, Rohaizat could spend at least 27 years in jail taking into account reduced sentence for good behaviour. This means that he will be behind bars until he turns 85 years old.
The former police chief was convicted of four counts of rape and one count of sodomy, which allegedly occurred between Feb 1, 2012 and May 6, 2012 at Tang Dynasty Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Initially, Rohaizat was sentenced to 20 years jail time and 3 strokes of the cane for 3 rape charges.
This controversial case was once described as a “crime of temptation” during the court proceedings by Justice Datuk Mohd Zawawi, who was the judge that sentenced him.
Justice Zawawi stated that there was sufficient evidence against Rohaizat.
Deputy public prosecutor Hamdan Hamzah added on to this during the trial, stating that the young girl had no reason to lie about her traumatic experience.
Hamzah also went on to say that she delayed lodging a police report because she feared that no one would believe her.
