One thing about this pandemic is that many of those struggling are finally coming into society’s spotlight.
Some of their struggles include being unable to feed their families and living in dangerously broken down houses due to their financial difficulties.
Ustaz Ebit Lew took to his Facebook profile to showcase a family who lives in Kampung Alor Bakat, Kelantan, in a house that could collapse at any time.
He wrote, “So heartbreaking. Which heart won’t feel sad upon seeing a house like this in Kampung Alor Bakat, Bachok? No rooms, the toilet is outside. Rooms have been separated with a cloth. They work in the village and raise goats underneath the house. This house is about 30-years-old.”
“The house looks like it’s about to collapse and the rooms are all rotten wood. The roof and the floor are too old. I didn’t think anyone lived in a place like this.”
Thankfully, he stepped in to help build the family a new house.
“I will build this mak cik a new house. A three-bedroom house. The cost will roughly be about RM30,000 to RM40,000.”
But, he won’t be in this alone as he has help from others for the process of construction. The Welfare Department also reached out a helping hand.
“Thankfully, I was informed that JKM visited the family and recently approved RM750 assistance for the five children. RM250 each, thank you JKM and Zakat,” he added.
We’re so happy to see underprivileged families getting the help that they need, now more than ever, and genuinely hope that this ball keeps rolling.
