A total of 258 luxury vehicles of various brands, including Ferrari, Porsche, and Ford Mustang, were seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during three phases of Ops Luxury 3.0 conducted nationwide from 1 July to 9 August.
JPJ’s Senior Director of Legal Enforcement, Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, stated that the latest operation, held from August 7 until yesterday (August 9), involved the seizure of 104 vehicles, including those owned by locals and foreigners.
“Among the offences detected were the absence of a Motor Vehicle License (LKM), lack of insurance coverage, expired or invalid driving licenses, display of unregistered license plates, and various technical violations,” he said during a press conference at the JPJ Kuala Lumpur Impound Depot last night.
“A total of 627 summons notices were also issued.”
He added that all vehicles were seized under the Road Transport Act 1987 and related regulations, and would be returned to their owners once they renewed their LKM and insurance.
According to him, Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest number of seizures with 93 vehicles, followed by Selangor (61), Penang (28), Sarawak (16), and Kelantan (15).
“JPJ will not compromise with any party that fails to comply with road transport laws.”
“This periodic operation will be strengthened to ensure the safety and sustainability of the country’s transport sector,” he stressed.
