Radio segments are a great way to keep listeners tuned in between their favourite songs, but as society evolves, the content of these segments must follow suit.
That’s what happened over at local English radio station Fly FM, as they announced via Twitter that they are ending their prank call segment, ‘Krappi Call’, which has been running for over eight years. Are you a fan of their Krappi Calls?

For the uninitiated, Krappi Call is a part of the radio’s popular morning show, hosted by deejays Hafiz, Guibo and RD. Over the years, it has increasingly attracted more criticism among listeners and netizens alike, who have disapproved of the segment’s pranks pulled on unwitting targets, which can sometimes lean more towards mean than mischievous.

The move was made following a poll on February 12, in which they asked their followers whether they should keep the segment going or let it go.

In the end, a resounding 80% of 2,174 votes went to ‘Bye Bye Krappi Call’, and a few hours later, the segment was officially called off. Twitter netizens wasted no time in responding:

Meanwhile, ‘Teka Bersama Guibo’ is another segment on the same morning show which features the US-raised Guibo trying to describe an item to a listener in Bahasa Malaysia as fluently as possible. This particular segment has been met with more approval among Twitter users, with many saying that they’d rather listen to Teka Bersama Guibo than Krappi Calls.
Looks like the sun has set on Krappi Calls! We’ve seen quite a few genius recommendations for new segment ideas on Twitter already; perhaps Fly FM can take a look at this and make it a part of its next show eh?
