Malaysia is blessed with beautiful beaches, great cities and amazing hills. For anyone who loves nature, Malaysia is one of the best places for them to have their adventures. But these beauties do come with their dangers. However we are sometimes blinded by our own pride till we put the lives of others in danger.

Recently, an incident happened in Bukit Tabur where a tourist died after slipping while trying to climb the notoriously dangerous hill. His body was brought down by Malaysia’s Search and Rescue team who took about 4 hours and 30 minutes to bring the body down.

A member of the team, Tuan Muhammad Dean Abdullah shared a reminder for all Malaysian hikers in the Hiking and Recreation Around Malaysia Facebook group, telling everyone not to suggest to foreigners who wants to hike to go to Bukit Tabur.

Apparently, Bukit Tabur has been closed to the public since 2017 and for those who are interested to go up the treacherous hike, they need to request for a permit. He wrote,

The question is why would you wanna introduce your foreign friends to climb up without you being there and let them suffer with the heat condition where they could easily get a heat stroke or fall from the quartz? You may be the best climber in your own personal record but never ever introduce other people to go on the same terrain you had been to unless you are there to guide them.”

Tuan Muhammad Dean also shared that his team had the experience of saving a 140kg guy simply because he was challenged by his friends to do so. He mentioned that hiking is good for health but one needs to know the limit of one’s body. For everyone else, they should take a step back to think whether they are putting the lives of others in danger which can actually lead to death.

We would like to also chime in on this: Please make sure you do any physical activities based on your capabilities. We would also like to remind everyone that Bukit Tabur can only be hiked if you have a permit. So please be careful.
