More than one month after the announcement by the Palestinian official, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry today confirmed the report, revealing that our country is ready to accept 15 Palestinian freedom fighters released by Israel soon.
Malaysia is ready to accept 15 Palestinian freedom fighters released by Israel

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was quoted by BERNAMA as saying that Malaysia hosting the 15 released Palestinians is part of the conditions of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
He added that Malaysia has long participated in and supported Palestine’s struggle for independence, and this decision is seen as appropriate without placing any burden on our country.
Moreover, Mohamad asserted that all 15 Palestinian freedom fighters were previously detained by Israel for up to 30 years without trial and were not allowed to return to Palestine upon their release.
The Foreign Minister further elaborated that negotiations are still ongoing and a team has been sent to identify those who will be brought to Malaysia, with their resettlement location to be determined later.
He asserted,
“We are participating in peace efforts as part of the ceasefire deal initiated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States…
“Perhaps soon, once the documentation is completed, we expect to bring them here. We will follow the same template as when Syrian refugees were brought in at the beginning of the Syrian war. They have now become part of Malaysia’s peaceful society,”
Accordingly, Mohamad urged Malaysians not to misinterpret or have negative perceptions about the move, as this is part of fulfilling an international responsibility.
The Foreign Minister stressed,
“The Humanitarian Trust Fund for Palestinians has already raised RM99 million, which shows that our people are generous and compassionate. So what is accepting 15 people compared to that?”
Malaysia is among four countries that would be hosting 60 Palestinians released by Israel as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal
In the announcement in February by the head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, Abdullah Zaghari, 60 released Palestinian prisoners were hosted in Egypt, pending deportation to the four countries.
Malaysia, Turkiye, Qatar and Pakistan will each host 15 Palestinians released by Israel, as the ceasefire deal agreed that the 60 individuals wouldn’t be released to the Gaza Strip or the West Bank.
