2 foreigners suspected of being the masterminds behind a robbery ring, involving 50 different cases, were shot dead in Cheras early this morning (July 25).
According to a report by Harian Metro, Acting Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Datuk Fadil Marsus, shared that the 2 foreign men, believed to have been the planners of the robbery ring, caused losses of more than RM3 million.
The 2 suspects were shot dead at 3:45am, while they were allegedly looking for new targets.
“The suspects were riding in a white Honda Civic that was stolen in 2023 in Subang Jaya, and were believed to be searching for a target in the area. We tried to overtake them, and there was a block and a shootout, leading to the 2 suspects’ death,” he said.
The robbery group was mainly active in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Perak
Datuk Fadil Marsus further explained that the group is believed to have about 15 members and has been active in committing crimes such as robbery, breaking and entering, and drug-related activities since 2022.
A search of the suspect’s stolen vehicle found various equipment for breaking and entering, drugs, 2 revolvers and semi-automatic firearms.
“These people are active in robbing end-lot and corner-lot bungalows, using firearms and machetes. They are also believed to be involved in drug activities,”
“Initial checks found a quantity of drugs in the vehicles, and burglary equipment, complete with a grinder and machines. Everything was there. Also found were balaclavas, gloves and so on. So, Alhamdulillah, so far, there have been no injuries on the police’s side and our affairs have been made easier,” he added.
Investigations have also revealed that the foreigners have been legally staying in Malaysia for a long time.
The police are now actively hunting the remaining members of the group, and they expect there will be several arrests soon.
