A former manager who was unhappy about being suspended from his job crashed his vehicle into his workplace and died at Chemor Industrial Area, Ipoh yesterday (5 November).
After dousing the building with petrol as an attempt to set it on fire, a witness at the scene claimed that the man walked into the path of an oncoming trailer and passed away.
“The suspect drove the car right into Section Phase 1 of the factory that was located around 500m away from the factory’s main entrance. After ramming the vehicle into the factory, the suspect threw a bottle of petrol into the Human Resources Office,” said Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A Asmadi Abdul Aziz in a statement posted on Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS.
District Police Chief, A Asmadi said the suspect then drove his car into the “Production Labelling Department”, which resulted in a fire breaking out. The fire was extinguished by the factory security guard and firemen who were called to the scene not long after the incident occurred.
“The suspect wasn’t carrying any weapons and caused no injury to the other factory workers”. However, the extensive damages caused by the former manager will cost the factory an estimated loss of RM1 million.
The suspect then left the factory and crossed the road before getting hit by an oncoming trailer, said an eyewitness at the scene. “Further investigation revealed that the suspect was unsatisfied with the factory’s management after he was suspended last September due to disciplinary issues. The suspect allegedly threatened the factory’s top management,” added the District Police Chief.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 427/448 of the Penal Code and Section 41 (1) Road Transport Act 1987.
