Former Pageant Winner Warns M’sians Against People Who Sell Covid-19 Kits Online
Are you guys aware that there are many people selling Covid-19 test kits on their social media recently? Getting tested at home by yourself might be convenient but are you aware of the consequences that may come with it?
Former Miss Astro Chinese Int 2014, Anjoe Koh who also graduated from a Masters in Pharmacy shared her point of view on an Instagram story regarding the sale of these Covid-19 test kits.
In her story, she first stated that Covid-19 screenings can only be done with certified clinics and medical professionals. Hence, it is strongly recommended that the public refrain from performing any Covid-19 test on their own without assistance and proper consultation from a medical professional.
“I have been receiving tons of messages from the netizens, asking me where to buy this Covid-19 test kit as well as which brand they should buy”, she said. She was really shocked why people have been asking her questions like this.
“Fellow sellers of the Covid-19 test kit, have your products gotten the approval from KKM?” she raised up her doubts.
She added that some of the sellers even claimed that their Rapid Test Kits have 99 per cent accuracy when the Rapid Test Kits (RTK) that are used by the medical clinic only claim to have an accuracy rate of below 90 per cent.
“If the buyers who are Covid-19 positive tested NEGATIVE using this test kit, they will hang around like a normal person since they do not know that they are actually Covid-19 positive. More people will then get infected by the FALSE negative person,” she emphasised.
Anjoe Koh writes that if you are tested positive under a certified medical clinic or hospital, the doctor will have the responsibility of reporting to the government for arranging the procedures.
She added that her sister is also a frontliner.
“For people who tested positive but do not dare to report to the government and [are] still hanging around, who will take responsibility for the consequences?” she asked.
“Also the used test kits, how are you going to handle it safely? Bury it?”
“People, if you are worried, please just go to your nearby hospital, clinic, PATHlab, BP lab to get officially tested by a medical professional! Please do not buy and use the test kit online!”
She ended her article by asking the sellers to please stop selling these test kits, and advised netizens to report to this website if anyone sees people selling them.
Stay safe during the pandemic! #KITAJAGAKITA
