In an official statement by PDRM in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, the accident occurred at 3:21 pm yesterday under the railway viaduct on Jalan Sultan Yaya Putra. The 4.3-meter-high trailer truck, loaded with 950 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas, crashed into an overpass with a maximum height of 4.1 meters.

Kuala Krai district police said the lorry driver was travelling from Kota Bharu, Kelatan, to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, but unexpectedly crashed into the bridge.

“The collision caused several liquefied petroleum gas cylinders to fall on the road, one of which hit a vehicle in another lane, but fortunately, no casualties were caused.”

For that matter, PDRM has issued a fine of not less than RM2,000 to the driver for reckless driving under Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act 1959 (LN 166/59).

If found guilty, the lorry driver will face a prison term of not more than 6 months.

PDRM also urged the Malayan Railway Berhad (KTMB) to take immediate action on the viaduct, as this was the second incident at the same location.

Drivers are urged to abide by traffic rules to prevent any unwanted accidents from happening.
