When it comes to public transport, Malaysia has one of the best infrastructure. However, closing the gap on the first-last KM can be a challenge. Hence, Grab Malaysia has started to offer bike-hailing in the form of Grab Bike, in which the service is currently undergoing a 6-month test within a few locations in Kuala Lumpur.
As reported by Lowyat.net, the service will be available for areas around KLCC, Bukit Bintang, Pudu and Chow Kit. Since it is inappropriate from certain local cultures to share motorbike rides with those who are from the opposite gender, female passengers can request for a female rider too.

SoyaCincau reported that the base fare is RM3.70 for trips within 3km. Every subsequent kilometres up to 5.5km, the passenger will be charged 66 cents for each kilometre while for distances more than 5.5kms, RM1 will be charged. Grab Bike will also provide a helmet for their potential passengers.

However, if the ride is cancelled by the passenger after five minutes or if the Grab Bike rider has waited formore than two minutes, a penalty of RM2 will be charged.
This is great news for those working in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. We hope the test will produce a positive result and Grab Bike will soon be available for more locations as it is surely convenient for us to commute!
