With Namewee now in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)’s custody until 10 November, Malaysian influencer and YouTuber, Yang Bao Bei (YBB), shared her thoughts on the matter.
While she did not comment on the murder that Namewee is embroiled in, YBB highlighted Namewee’s personality and how he had helped her in the past, when she was at the lowest point in her life.
“He has always been respectful”
In her Instagram post yesterday (5 November), YBB said she refused to comment on Namewee’s personal life, as she isn’t clear about that part of his life, despite knowing him for 10 years. However, YBB is clear about one fact.
“He has always been respectful to everyone, and about everything.”
“Years ago, when I was at my lowest and couldn’t stand on my feet, he saved my life and gave me an important job.”
In short, YBB was accused of scamming Malaysians by selling them branded items online, and she later confessed that it was due to her gambling addiction, which caused her to lose her savings. She then resorted to borrowing from the loan sharks, which led her to conduct the mentioned scam to cover the debts.
As the debts grew, YBB attempted to end her life.
And this was when Namewee came into the picture. He offered YBB a job, which she dubbed a “gift.” The duo, alongside Singaporean comedian Wang Lei, produced a song and music video about the consequences of gambling addiction and debts.
The song was released in January 2023.
YBB respects Namewee’s action of surrendering to the police
In her Instagram post, YBB also said that when it comes to Namewee’s current situation, she still respects him for surrendering to the police. As for the case itself, YBB decided to let the police and law do their work, in the hope that truth will prevail one day.
“That’s all I have to say for this, and I’m not trying to get engagement,” YBB said.
Namewee surrendered to the police at the Dang Wangi Police Station on 5 November at 1:10 AM, after returning from Johor Bahru.
