The Malaysian Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says that the battle of frontliners against the Covid-19 virus in Sabah is currently at a critical level.

He also said that a few strategies and measures will be taken to break the chain of the virus in Sabah. The measures taken included the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in three major areas in the state.

Admissions into Sabah was also banned except for Sabahans, passport holders issued by the Sabah State Immigration Department located in the Peninsula, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan as well as those working in essential services.

The SOPs were also tightened by the government in order to control the situation there. A two-person limit to go out of the house and business operating hours limit are among the SOPs being implemented.

“Our strategy is based on “Community Surveillance”, “Contact Tracing” of find, test, isolate and treat all infected person & breaking the chains of infection further by tightening the state & district borders”, The DG said on his official Twitter account.

Yesterday (11 October), The Ministry of Health reported 561 new cases in the country with Sabah recording 488 cases, the highest number of positive cases in the country.

Remember to always wear a face mask in public and avoid crowded places. Always keep your hands sanitized or regularly wash them.
