Plastic bags may be very convenient, but disposing of them improperly is affecting the lives of animals more than you think.
On 16th November, a man from Thailand posted on his Facebook the horrifying discovery of a dead monkey on the beach.
He shares that it was about 4pm when he went to a beach somewhere in Khao Sam Muk, Thailand, to take some photos of the sea.
While he was walking down towards the beach, he noticed a weird stone in the shallow waters, but as he moved closer, he realised it wasn’t a stone but a monkey in a plastic bag.
He took the animal out of the water and removed the plastic bag that was enclosed around the top half of its body. There were bloodstains inside the plastic bag as the monkey had bled from its nose while it had suffocated and drowned in the water.
Not knowing what to do, he took the monkey’s body further up the shore as he didn’t want to leave it in the sea.
He then urges people not to feed monkeys, especially from plastic bags as they often like to stick their heads into the bags to get food.
What a heartbreaking sight to see. We really need to stop the use of plastic bags and give these poor animals a chance to survive on their own.
