In case you missed it, Malaysia and Singapore recently reached an agreement to reopen the borders to each other for certain travellers between the two countries this 10 August. Specifically, there will be two separate schemes depending on the different groups of cross-border travellers, which are:
- Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) – Cross-broder travel for essential businesses and official matters.
- Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) – Cross-border travel for those with long-term immigration pass for businesses and work in either country.

For both of the above schemes, all eligible Malaysian and Singaporean citizens must abide by strict Covid-19 preventive and public health regulations, including taking the Covid-19 Polimerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
According to Bernama, after a period of at least 3 consecutive months in the country in which they’re working, those who are eligible for these schemes can return to their home countries for a short-term home leave.

They can then return to the country in which they’re working and continue to stay and work for another period of at least 3 consecutive months.
Seeing that August 10 is just around the corner, both Malaysia and Singapore’s immigration department has released detailed information regarding the regulations of both schemes.

Hopefully all of those who would be using these cross-border schemes will abide by the given regulations so that no new Covid-19 clusters will appear in either country.
