Yesterday (Tuesday – April 1, 2025) at around 8:20am, a huge gas pipeline explosion broke out in Putra Heights, Selangor, leaving people from all over Puchong and Subang in a state of panic.

Many people sustained injuries and even more were forced to leave their homes for relief centres.

In total, 78 firefighters, along with 10 fire engines, 4 Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicles, 5 water tankers and a hazardous materials team were deployed to put out the pipeline fire, which was fully extinguished at 3:45pm on the same day.

But our first responders were not the only ones present to help the victims of the pipeline fire.

Here is a breakdown of efforts and initiatives taken to assist in the situation:

The government

relief 1

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced monetary assistance of RM5,000 to homeowners affected by the pipeline explosion, and RM2,500 to over 100 homeowners whose homes were partially damaged.

The Ministry of Education (MOE), on the other hand, is providing aid of RM1,000 each to 107 staff and students affected.

relief 2

Puchong MP, Yeo Bee Yin is allocating a contribution of RM1,000 to every homeowner within the Puchong Parliamentary Constituency who is experiencing a total loss from the pipeline fire. Households that experienced partial losses are also entitled to a RM500 contribution.

The Federal Government, State Governments and Petronas will also take responsibility for repairing and replacing damaged property.

THONEH

Chery Malaysia is providing temporary transportation facilities in the form of an ‘emergency vehicle loan program‘, to the affected families, to facilitate their affairs such as commuting to work, attending medical appointments and taking care of family needs.

They will provide 50 cars via this loan program for a certain period.

SHS Group Builders

Sharing with WORLD OF BUZZ, an SHS Group Builders representative explained their aim to assist with rebuilding the homes of the pipeline explosion victims through offering home repair services at cost price.

They are also offering free cleaning services to the households affected.

SPCA

relief 3

The Selangor-state Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) is offering assistance to pets and pet owners affected by the gas pipeline fire by setting up an Animal Relief Post behind the Dewan Camelia relief centre.

There, they will provide emergency pet food supplies, basic first aid support for pets and more. They are also collecting the information of pet owners who require search and rescue assistance for missing pets or pets that may have ended up stuck at home due to owners leaving for Hari Raya celebrations.

The Malaysia Animal Association

relief 5

They are offering free pet care services for 7 days, until Tuesday (April 8), to pet owners affected by the gas pipeline explosion.

We genuinely hope that everyone affected makes a speedy recovery from the pipeline explosion and a huge kudos to those who are going above and beyond to assist the victims.

If we left out any important details, please feel free to share in the comments section.
