Previously, we reported that a Bangladeshi boy was shockingly found in a shipping container in the Westport area in Port Klang, in which the video of the rescue has gone viral on social media. Now, more information has come out regarding the incident, with investigations by the authorities finding no foul play or elements of human trafficking.

As reported by Bernama, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution asserted that the boy was believed to have entered the container in Bangladesh, found himself trapped and somehow arrived in Malaysia. Saifuddin further confirmed that the boy was the only one found in the container. A police report was lodged and as the boy was having a fever, he was taken for medical examinations.

The Home Minister said,

“The relevant authorities have investigated the case and their investigations found no elements of human trafficking. The boy was just believed to have entered the container, fell asleep and found himself here…the authorities are in the process of repatriating him through the legal channels. That’s it,”

As we previously reported, the boy, known as Fahim was found locked in the shipping container for six days as it was ferried by a vessel from Chittagong, Bangladesh to West Port. Let’s hope that Fahim gets all the medical attention needed and safely returns to his home in Bangladesh soon.

So, what do you guys think of the whole incident? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
