Everyone has fears, and some more common than others such as heights, compact spaces and so forth.
On the other hand, we have the less common phobias, such as the fear of falling asleep, the fear of mirrors or one’s own reflection and the fear of cats.
Considering Malaysia has a lot of stray cats roaming the streets, having Ailurophobia or the fear of cats can be very inconvenient, especially if you have friends who enjoy playing pranks on you.
For instance, Iskandar Malfoy (@Iskandar131201) took to his Twitter account to showcase a video in which his hostel mates decided to scare a friend of theirs who has Ailurophobia. They decided to carry a cat into the room and hold it towards the poor boy, and netizens were not very happy about it.

In the video, the poor boy can be seen backing up into a corner of the room while yelling at his friend to put the cat outside. He can also be seen holding a cup of water in his hand, in which he extends out in order to protect himself from his friend who was holding the cat towards him.
At one point, he also screamed and accidentally spilt a little bit of his water on the cat.
Not only did the boy have to suffer through their prank but so did the poor cat.
Many netizens didn’t take well to the joke and voiced out against their actions, adding that fears and phobias shouldn’t be used as a tool to scare or play pranks on people. Sabrina Baharin (@intanshamshul) took to her account to explain.
Phobia is real, takut kucing is real! ailurophobia is the name of this! I advice everyone who knows their friends who have this kind of fear.. mohon jangan main2 dgn perasaan ketakutan dia. Dia takut kucing, tapi maybe tak takut ular. I am so done. Mujur kawan kau x pengsan. https://t.co/lfgx2rigmG

Luckily your friend didn’t pass out.”
And she’s not the only one who feels the same way.
This comment reads, “Not funny.”
This comment says, “Yes, it may look funny, but you guys will never understand.”
Let’s hope that these boys learn their lesson and leave the poor boy and his fears alone.

Leave the innocent little cat out of it too.
