This TikTok creator is showing us the beauty of a multilingual and multicultural Malaysia.
Era Rawther, a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Sabah has found her place on Malaysians’ TikTok For You Page (FYP) as her content sets her apart from other Malaysian content creators. With her lip-syncing to Tamil movies, dramas and songs while being clad in a tudung, she was able to appeal to and impress her audience.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Era told us that she is actually half Indian as her father is an Indian while her mother is a Bruneian.
“I watched Tamil movies since I was little kid and eventually I could understand them.”
“I learnt the Tamil writing system and now I can read them (my dad taught me how to), but when it comes to speaking, it’s still pretty hard for me and I am at a conversational level.”

Era told us that she started making more content in Tamil after many followers stumbled upon her videos and showed her so much love.
“I feel appreciated and loved! They are so supportive, and some of them say that by watching my videos, it relieves their stress and that makes me happy.”
For National Day, Era made a special video where she spoke fully in Tamil.
At the time of writing, Era has accumulated a total of 1.3 million likes through all her videos. Taking this opportunity, she would like to thank everyone who supports her.
