Who says roof leakage and “indoor flooding” only happen in Malaysia? Football fans in the UK were recently left puzzled when raindrops fell through the roof of the Old Trafford Stadium, causing the stadium to banjir near the end of the match!

Multiple videos capturing the flood and the roof leakage from different POVs are circulating on social media, showing an affected section of the seat during Sunday’s Premier League between United and Arsenal.
Another video shows the stadium, which is also the home of Manchester United turned into a “waterfall” with the flood water pouring down from the stairs at the seating area.

Unfortunately, the changing room for the footballers was also affected, with rainwater pouring down through the ceiling.

According to GOAL, the management of the 114-year-old stadium was well aware of the condition that needed immediate repair, and here’s why they had not taken action to fix the damage.
“The club hierarchy concluded that renovation works could not be commenced while the season was still ongoing,” said the club’s managing director.
In another report by The Guardian, Manchester United sent workers all the way up to the roof to fix the damage less than 24 hours after the incident.

The necessary work is ongoing, but it didn’t stop Malaysian football fans from reacting to the flooding in the stadium.
“Analysis shows that to be the tears of MU supporters, not waterfall.”
“It’s another version of Stadium Shah Alam, which does not even have a roof.”
“If the roof is bad, it’s just the same for the team and management.”

The Old Trafford Stadium opened to the public in 1910. With a building that is a century old, it’s only common for some work to be done to maintain the condition.
