If you could retake your SPM examination, would you do it all over again? A Malaysian woman recently expressed her desire to sit for SPM again, 11 years after she last sat for the examination.
The woman, who is now 28 and married is not happy with the results she achieved for SPM in 2014, with a failed result for the Arabic Education paper.

She scored Cs for most of the subjects, including Bahasa Melayu, and a B+ for Science, as shown in her viral Threads post.
The woman contemplated whether she should resit for the examination and sought advice from social media users about the matter. When asked about her reasons for sitting for the examination again, the woman cited “job opportunities and smart kids” as the driving motivation.
Netizens gave their two cents
Many netizens shared their take on the matter, and most of them agreed that if she wanted a job, she could’ve pursued a Diploma with that result, as she did not fail the core subjects – Bahasa Melayu and History – in which she scored C+ for both.
A netizen also pointed out that there is no point in sitting for the exam all over again, given the changes in the syllabus over the years.
“Your results are not that bad. Go to a community college or a workshop for a course that you think would land you a job opportunity in the future.”
Another netizen explained that the woman did not fail in SPM as she managed to pass the core subjects and could further her studies if she wanted.
“You are eligible to pursue a Diploma. Good luck. Don’t delay your education.”
“Proceed to a Diploma, no need to resit, and go with the course that you have in mind.”
