In an unprecedented time when humans have to remain separated due to a ravaging virus, it’s nice to know that our hearts and solidarity still remain strong 🙂
This heartwarming story from across the Causeway will definitely restore your faith in humanity. When a post went viral about a group of migrant workers drinking milk straight from the carton as none of them own even a single mug, Swedish furniture company IKEA moved swiftly to donate some 800 mugs and cartons of snacks to them.
Shared on Facebook by the good folks at Itsrainingcoats, a Singaporean initiative that aims to spread kindness to migrant workers in Singapore, it all began when a long term donor sent cartons of fresh milk to migrant workers in the past week.
After seeing some photos of the donation, the initiative realised that the migrant workers were drinking milk straight from the carton.
Through some inquiries, they found out that it was because the workers had no mugs. They must have been living in such difficult conditions!
Itsrainingcoats immediately activated a team of donors to aid these workers and upon hearing this, IKEA, decided to take action and donated 800 mugs and cartons of snacks from their food outlet.
Migrant workers are one of the most affected groups in the world during this Covid-19 pandemic and what IKEA and Itsrainingcoats have done for them in Singapore is definitely awesome and wholesome. It’s nice to see that the spirit of #KitaJagaKita is a global trend.
