The police have issued 396 summons for various traffic offences during an Op Samseng Jalanan at the Kuching Airport road in Kuching, Sarawak.
According to a report by Utusan Borneo, the Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah shared that the operation started at 10:30pm on Sunday (March 2), where a total of 168 motorcycles and 10 cars were inspected.
Of the 168 motorcycles inspected, 26 were detained under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 over modifications to the original structure of their motorcycles.
He added that the operation aims to combat street gang activities in hopes that road users will comply with the law and road regulations.
“This operation will be carried out continuously from time to time. Road users, especially motorcyclists, are advised to always drive or ride prudently, be careful and not get involved in street gang activities,” he explained.
Illegal racers made to do squats
In a video shared by the 古晋大小事 Kuching Talk Facebook page, during the Op Samseng Jalanan, the police allegedly made illegal racers do squats after they were allegedly caught using the Kuching Airport road as a race track.
In the video, the alleged racers can be heard counting to 10 as they performed their squats while officers looked on before the video cuts off.
古晋大小事 Kuching Talk wrote, “Netizens shared that there was a sports course held at the airport last night, and many people signed up to participate.”
