With the increasing number of water shortages, it’s become evident that pollution is the cause.
Yet, some inconsiderate Malaysians are still adamant about throwing rubbish and polluting our rivers.
The Kulim Municipal Council took to their Facebook page to showcase the amount of rubbish that was caught in the netting they had set up to prevent tree trimmings from entering a river.
They wrote, “An unsettling morning view. We took the initiative to set traps to prevent tree trimmings from entering the river. Not to be used as a landfill.”
“Imagine if this pile of garbage continued to enter the river. It can definitely cause severe pollution.”
They added that they will be assisting the Perbadanan Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam (SWCorp) in taking action against those who have thrown rubbish into the river.
It truly doesn’t take a lot of effort to throw rubbish in their designated bins. Yet, Malaysians have always chosen to take the easy route by throwing their rubbish either randomly by the roadside or into the nearest river.
We MUST be better than this.
We hope that the authorities take the appropriate action to track down those who have thrown rubbish into the river.
