The athlete accused the officer of trying to extort money

According to Harian Metro, the PDRM officer reportedly asked the athlete and his entourage to show their identification documents and passports, but they reportedly didn’t comply.

They were then asked to present identification cards from their home country, with the officer also reminding them to carry their passports while in Malaysia.

The said football player later took to social media, claiming that the officer attempted to extort money from them.

The video of the incident was also shared by the athlete, showing them being stopped while on their way back to their accommodation in Malaysia after enjoying nasi lemak at a local eatery, according to Tribun Medan.

The athlete claimed that the PDRM officer only acted ‘properly’ after learning one of them was a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces

In the footballer’s viral social media post, he claimed that the PDRM officer tried to extort money from them. However, he alleged that the officer only behaved ‘properly’ after finding out that one of them was a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

Many Malaysians have since called on the Home Ministry (KDN) and PDRM to take strict action over what they saw as an insult to the country’s security forces.

Meanwhile, when contacted by Harian Metro, a PDRM spokesperson confirmed they are aware of the incident and said they will share more information once updates are available.
