From now till 30 Sept, you better make a short roadtrip to Ipoh because this there’s something you would not want to miss there! And it is what we personally (and surprisingly) stumbled across.
At first, we thought it’s going to be just a quick makan pitstop on our way to Penang, but we uncovered this hidden gem that occupied us for hours.
Forget Concubine Lane, head to Lorong Bijeh Timah
Deep in Ipoh Old Town on Lorong Bijeh Timah, there exists 4 pre-war shop lots that have been refurbished by the state government. In recent years, Ipoh has started gaining momentum in tourism but instead of sticking to the conventional type of tourism, Tin Alley decided that they will combine tourism, life, culture and heritage all into one place.

Besides finding interesting art, the ‘exploration’ was the best part for us
This is not your ordinary boring art gallery shit. The installations are placed in different shoplots that are converted into galleries so you gotta explore and find these art yourself!
A group of art enthusiasts actually converted the space to showcase 35 pieces of artwork by 18 local artists, 17 students, and 10 kids for the general public to appreciate.
And honestly, you’ll be exploring for at least a couple hours and be surprised at what you can find.

Tin Alley is hosting an exhibition, ART Ipoh that you can visit until 30th September. What’s more is… This is all for FREE!
The person behind it all, Tan Lai Kek told Malay Mail that the aim of the exhibition is to preserve the heritage and to recognise the importance of arts and culture.

Collaborating with Mr. Phillip Wong, the director of The National Art Gallery, they have gathered 18 multidisciplinary artists from the whole of Malaysia, 17 students from Ipoh Yuk Choy High School and 10 children from Ipoh for this exhibition.
All the pieces are showcased in different areas of Tin Alley, some indoors and some outdoors as the sizes of the pieces vary from 50sqft up to 1,100 sqft!

Most of the artwork took more than 2 months to complete and that really shows their dedication and passion!
Other than just appreciating the art, there are also several installations that you can take pictures with so that you can flex a bit on your IG la.
