The prices of goods continue to skyrocket, without any signs of economic recovery so far. Essential items continue to be more expensive despite the demands, including vegetables.

On her FB account, a Malaysian radio DJ, Mei Yan recently shared her shocking experience after discovering the price of spring onions that were sold at RM9.45 per KG. To Mei Yan, the price of the vegetables is too expensive.

“I don’t really understand this, so I want to ask. Am I the only one who thinks this is expensive? Is this the standard pricing for spring onions today?”

Mei Yan, however, did not disclose the location of the supermarket.

Mei Yan also mentioned the possibility of weather changes that contributed to the high price of the vegetables.

“We used to get free spring onions if we bought bulks of vegetables. I guess we can’t do this anymore today?”

According to a social media user, the spring onion that Mei Yan saw came all the way from Cameron Highlands.

“The prices of vegetables from Cameron Highlands recently increased. The Green Coral vegetable itself increased twice the usual price.”

“The prices of spring onions are around RM9.45 per KG recently.”

“It’s time to buy the seeds and plant yourself. It’s convenient because you can have it anytime.”

Another social media user said she bought spring onions for RM12 per KG recently.

“It can go up to RM22 per KG during the festive season.”

“Well, it’s time to plant vegetables on our own.”

“Back then, we could take a little spring onions at the market without paying for anything.”

What do you think of the recent pricing of goods when you visit the local supermarkets?
