In a National Security Council statement issued out by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, it is said that IT, telecommunications, stationery and book stores are allowed to open starting today (16 July 2021).

Malaysia Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob

The statement mentioned that the pandemic has caused a change in daily learning methods and all educational institutions practising online teaching now. Hence, the National Security Council has decided to allow IT, telecommunications, stationery and bookstores to operate starting 16 July 2021.

“This permission to operate is given after taking into account the students’, parents’ and the teaching force’s feedback and to make sure that teachers and students can do online learning without any disturbance.”

Students taking exams can travel to EMCO areas

The National Security Council will also be permitting students to travel FROM EMCO areas or TO EMCO areas if they need to take exams (including professional exams). However, they can only do so after getting a travel permit from their local police station.

For illustration purposes.

This is certainly the day that many parents and students have been waiting for as they will need to stock up on revision books, reference books and stationery. No matter what, remember to always sanitise your hands when possible, physically distance yourself from others and double mask when you are out!
