Popular South Korean DJ, DJ Soda, is warning the general public to be more wary of how they pick hairstylists after she ended up having to shave more than half her head due to a bleach fiasco.
Taking to her Instagram account, she shared how she had gone to her usual hair salon to bleach her hair after a three-year break to let her hair heal from chemical treatments.
She wrote, “I wanted to show you a pretty side of me again, so after my tour, I came back to Korea and tried to surprise you all by going blonde again after 3 years. I got my hair bleached at my usual salon. My hair was originally thick, full, and healthy from taking a 3-year break from bleaching and (treating it with) consistent care.”
“But, they left the bleach on for too long and my hair melted from the roots. In the end, I had to shave the entire back and sides of my head.”
Considering she is constantly in the public eye, her hair troubles caused her immense distress
DJ Soda explained how she became depressed because of this incident.
“Many people who saw me at events and shows were very shocked. I was also very surprised and sad. My hair kept falling out in big handfuls every day. I was so upset that I couldn’t sleep for 2 weeks and cried almost every day. It’s really hard for me to look in the mirror. When I see videos fans took of me, I feel even more heartbroken,”
“And it’s not over yet. My hair is still falling out more. Most of it is only about 3mm long now, so I can’t even get hair extensions,” she said.
It will take two years for her hair to grow back
She also explained that she didn’t shave off ALL of her hair, so she’s using what she has left to cover the bald parts. On top of that, she’s using this incident to warn the public to be careful when picking a hairstylist.
“It will take over 2 years for my hair to grow back. Now, I try to cover the bald parts with the little hair I have left. It makes me feel very lost and very sad every day,”
“After thinking a lot, I wanted to gently tell you about my condition, just in case you see me and feel shocked. Don’t end up like me. Bleaching really depends on the hair stylist’s skills. So, make sure to do your research and get it done by a bleaching specialist!”
We genuinely hope that DJ Soda’s hair grows back as fast as possible so that she can gain her confidence back!
