A lot of jobs require their employees to communicate a lot, through phone calls and meeting clients to seal a deal. Being an introvert is not a justifiable excuse not to engage in any conversation, however, a recent job application involving a 25-years old girl may have just sealed her fate.
Recently, a Malaysian employer shared a few screenshots of their conversation with a fellow job seeker who had too many impossible requests before the latter was even interviewed.
The girl was applying for a job as an insurance agent, and common protocol dictates an interview to further understand the candidate. However, the girl is not fond of the need for an interview.
“An interview? I thought I could’ve started right away?”
Not only that but she also had a set of requirements which baffled the employer when the interview had not even taken place. Here’s what the girl DOES NOT want to do.
- No client meetings,
- No phone calls,
- No daily meetings.
As if the requests were not enough, she revealed that working from home is the only option for her. As she has piano training on Thursday night, the candidate who has a degree in Science Facility said that she can only go to bed at 11pm and she asked for Fridays to be free from meetings and training.
That’s awfully (and brutally) honest
In response to her list of requests, the employer asked if the girl would visited an uncertified and unlicensed doctor if she fell sick.
“Hello! Who would’ve bought an insurance from an unlicensed agent? No phone calls, no meetings, working from home, and you still expect to get paid?”
However, the 25-year-old job seeker defended herself and said this is how things are done nowadays, including the degree holders.
“You can’t even answer me patiently and properly, what makes you a good insurance agent?”
“We’re helping people, but we’re not a charity”
Despite her remarks, the employer was far from angry. In fact, she found the conversation that was taking place to be hilarious. She told the job seeker that as an insurance agent, her job is to help people but the nature of the job is far from charity.
“Do I look like Guan Yin (Goddess of mercy) to you? You don’t want to do anything and yet, you want to get paid.”
She then sarcastically reminded the girl to inform her if she ever finds a job with all the requirements she was looking for. The girl continuously condescended the employer, to which the latter simply wished her “Good luck.”
Her attitude whilst hunting for a job says a lot about her traits, and possibly, her fate in the future if she maintains the same arrogance. Fellow employers, have you ever encountered such bizarre conversations with job seekers?
