Justice, while sweet, should never be exacted by our own hands. The rule of thumb is to never act on your emotions and report whatever grievances or crimes you have witnessed to the authorities, and allow them to carry out their duties. Unfortunately, that is not the case with a group of vigilantes, who took it upon themselves to deliver what they felt was the right thing to do, in a report from China Press.
The incident, which took place in Johor, happened when a group of people found out that a man had allegedly raped a 16-year-old teenage girl in a local karaoke bar. Video clips that were taken from the incident were shared over social media, showing the group dragging the alleged rapist out onto the streets.
It was claimed that the rapist lured the 16-year-old teenage girl to the karaoke bar to sing, before bringing her to another room to play a mobile game together. During that split-second moment of privacy, the man then allegedly raped her in the room.
When caught by the mob, the man tried to plead for his life, even going as far as to offering money to the mob in hopes of escaping. But they ganged up on him either way and forced him to strip his clothes off.
They then beat him up, even going as far as using glass bottles to smash him over the head.
However, as it turns out, the incident didn’t actually go as described, because shortly after, a video was released by the alleged rape victim, who proceeded to ‘apologise’. Apparently, she didn’t realise she had made the allegations that led to the man being beaten up.
“I just want to say sorry lo, maybe I didn’t realise I said that he raped me.”
So whose version of the story is true in that case?
Which comes to show that you really don’t know what a true story is until you listen to it from both sides!
